Hey there, Des here, a guy in his early 40s., Lived most of my life in Singapore. I have a nice little family with my wife, two young kids and our parents.
Living in Singapore can be a bit of a financial juggle, you know with its reputation as the world most expensive city to live in . I’ve got a regular 9-to-5 job that keeps the bills paid and puts food on the table. It does the trick to keep us out of the paycheck-to-paycheck hustle but we hardly can call ourselves living comfortably and worries-free financially.
Lately, it feels like everything is getting pricier, and my salary isn’t exactly supportive enough to keep up with prices. The cost of living is no joke, and if your employer doesn’t adjust your salary prompt to m match inflation, you might find yourself scoping out better-paying gigs or working additional hours after work just to keep the ship afloat.
I noticed a change in the job game too. The traditional 9-to-5 grind is kind of fading away. Employers are squeezing more work out of us for the same old pay, and job security seems to be diminishing with companies resorting to retrenchments or downsizing during economic downturns. Even if you dodge that bullet, they might still restructure in a name of cost cutting, eliminating your existing position and redeploying you to a lower paying positions.
And don’t even get me started on the rise of AI. They are swooping in and doing jobs better, faster, and sometimes cheaper than us humans. Even big roles like marketing managers aren’t safe from the robot takeover. So, the big question is: do I just sit back and wait for my job to become extinct, or do I get off proactive now and make some moves while I still can?
So, I decided to start hunting for ways to pocket some extra income during my free time. A decade or two back, making money from home felt like chasing unicorns. The norm was get your butt out there to work, clock in, and getting that paycheck. Sure, starting a business could bring some cash, but fit needed a hefty chunk of cash in the first place to kick off – something I didn’t have at the time. Even if I did, I had to make sure my survivability first, so the options was not in my consideration.
Fast-forward to 2024, and the game has changed. Making money online is the real deal now. Seriously, I often wish I was born a decade later just to dive into this digital gold rush. The internet is buzzing with opportunities, and you can kick off a business without first having a small fortune. Thanks to the internet (and the fact that everyone’s hooked on it), the spotlight has shifted from brick-and-mortar retails stores to online platforms.
Think about it – how often do you click “Buy Now” online compared to making a special trip to a physical store? For me, it’s every once-in-a-blue-moon in-store purchase. And when I go to the store, that’s usually when I need something urgently.
I won’t pretend I’ve tried every online business you can think of, failed spectacularly, like how some internet stories go. Nope, I’m all about keeping it real with you. Time and money aren’t exactly sufficient in my world (hence the wishful thinking of being born a decade later). Plus, there’s this part of me that wants to soak up family time with the kids while they’re still at that age where family is everything to them.
In my freelancing days, I delved into copyediting, proofreading, and translation. Here’s what I learned: (1) Your effort directly impacts your income – no work, no pay. (2) It feels more like a job than a business because of reason 1. (3) The workday revolves around “me, myself, and I,” leading to fast loneliness and alienation. (4) To match employee pay, you need serious motivation; breaks don’t equal downtime.
Freelancing isn’t exactly a business – a business operates even when the boss is away. It’s more like self-employment. My real interest lies in harnessing the power of passive income. After all, isn’t that why people start businesses? To have others work for you while you’re away or immersed in other activities.
Right, work for you while you’re away. If only you can find that someone who is so loyal and motivated to work for you. Managing people is really no walk in the park – salaries are huge consistent and constant expenses, and finding dedicated employees isn’t a cakewalk.
What if I told you there’s a way for your business to flourish without hiring a team? Embrace automation! It sweeps away tedious tasks, freeing you to focus on high-level priorities crucial to your business.
Thanks to the internet and advanced tools, a solo-run business is now a reality. Say goodbye to cold calls or door-to-door salesmen – our buying habits have evolved, and your business can and should too. Explore the possibilities of a streamlined, automated approach that lets you be the star player in your entrepreneurial journey.
And let’s talk about managing people, shall we? It’s no secret that mastering the art of managing a team is one of the toughest challenges in any organization. Salaries alone can be hefty expenses, and even if you have the budget, finding dedicated employees who are willing to go above and beyond without giving you problems is no small feat.
But here’s the catch: if you don’t take this step forward, your business may struggle to grow. Or will it?
What if I told you that you don’t necessarily need to hire a team to run your business effectively? What if I told you that your business could thrive with just you as the sole “employee”? It’s entirely possible with online business by integrating automation into your online operations. Automation streamlines mundane, repetitive tasks, freeing up your time to focus on higher-level responsibilities crucial to your business’s success.
Thanks to the internet and AI, and together with the evolving business landscape, what once seemed impossible is now within reach. Gone are the days of door-to-door or cold call salesmen. Nowadays, the internet is our go-to for almost every purchase, whether it’s everyday essentials like groceries or significant investments like laptops and furniture. Even luxury items like branded watches and bags are readily available online and people buy them!
It has become very clear in recent years: technology is revolutionizing how businesses operate. With the advancement of AI, current jobs are at risk of being replaced by machines. Picture a future where the only human needed in a business is the decision-maker, likely the boss or owner. Numerous small businesses may sprout out, each helmed by its owners has no other employees, and their role is to providing specific services and solutions.
In this potential scenario, do you want to leave your fate to chance and wait for the day when machines take over your job? Or would you rather take proactive steps now to become the owner of one of these small businesses, ensuring your income continues even in the face of AI advancements?
That’s why the first thing you’ll notice when you visit my hub is a quote by Jim Rohn: “Your life won’t get better by chance, it will get better by choice.” And remember, it’s never too late to start.
For me, I made the choice to dive into the world of online income generation because I have no doubt it will change my life. It’s not just about finances; it’s about the freedom to avoid the 9am and 5pm mad rush, the freedom to work from anywhere at your own pace, and the freedom to build a legacy for your children.
